Assuming you mean the "field bet in craps," it depends on the casino. Whatever the table limit is determines the maximum bet. In some casinos, it's as low as $500. In some casinos, it's as high as $10,000 and you can sometimes find higher limits. At one time, the Horseshoe in Vegas had a claim to fame that they would book any bet you had the cash or credit to make, however, since it's no longer privately owned, I doubt they still do that. Unlike what you commonly see on television, most casinos won't book a $500,000 or $1,000,000 bet, but there is the rare exception if you are a known whale and/or already have a betting history with the casino.
You can place wherever you wish, the decision is entirely up to the player.
The maximum bet depends on the table maximum in the casino. Some casinos allow $500 maximum and some allow $10,000 or more.

Most casinos rate players based on how long they play and the amount of the bet. You may not get credit for some bets (such as the odds bet in craps) depending on the casino. How much you get in comps depends strictly on a casino's policy. The comp credit amount you receive is normally a small percentage of your hourly average bet.
