No it did not, But it did like to spen rod bearings at high RPM. Oiling problem

You don't need a diamond bit. High speed steel will do as long as you drill slow (about 400 rpm) and keep the tip lubricated with cutting oil.
The rpm required for an alternator will depend on the result that you want. At the very least, you will want 1200 rpm. The rpm's can go as high as 5000.
