Impedance in electricity is described as an opposing force to electron flow. It consists of a combination of resistance, capacitance, and inductance. This forms the actual "resistance" to electron flow in a circuit versus "pure resistance"such as a resistor added in a circuit to slow electron flow. Impedance is more prevalent in AC circuits versus DC circuits as it reacts to AC current flow much more than DC current. Current flow in a speaker circuit is considered AC so impedance is more meaningful in a speaker setup. Impedance can be measured or calculated based upon current flow so it can be converted to watts using the formula Watts = amps times voltage.

Answer

Impedance is the vector sum of resistance and reactance, and is measured in ohms. No, it cannot be measured in watts, which the unit for power.

Your speakers will handle 400 watts but start to disort at 200 watts?

The speaker impedance does not match the amplifier's specified speaker impedance.

How many watts do factory speakers have in a 2010 corolla?

Speakers are measured in Ohms not Watts. Watts is the amount of power you will be supplying to the speakers. In my 2009 Corolla the speakers can handle at least 400 Watts as this is what my OEM JBL system is pushing.

What unit of electrical power is used to measure how fast electrical energy is used?

Lots of units are used to measure electricity, depending on what aspect you want to measure. For example: Voltage is measured in volts Current is measured in amperes Resistance (as well as impedance) is measured in ohms Power is measured in watts Capacitance is measured in coulomb Inductance is measured in henries etc.

What are the measurement system stages of audio speaker?

Well audio speakers aremeasured in a few ways but i will explain a few. All speakers are measured in inches or millimeters according to the side, this measurement measure through the center. The frequency is measured in hertz. Then they are all measured in Watts.

Can a 900 Watt amp power two 15 inch sub-woofers?

The question should be, can the two 15 inch sub-woofers handle 900 Watts? The speakers should have a power rating marked on them. If the speakers can handle 900 Watts, and they are suitably impedance matched with the amplifier, there should not be a problem.

Is it ok to hook a 16 ohm Speaker up to a 8 ohm amp?

A1: The output impedance of a power amplifier is always less than 0.1 ohms. There are no 8 ohm amplifiers on the market! A2: I actually just bought a new car radio/CD player that specifically shows 4 ohm speakers on the sticker. It is designed to work optimally with 4 ohm speakers. If you use 8 ohm instead, it will work, but you will not get the full power output that is specified. The amp can only kick out so much voltage and so much amperage - if it is designed for 4 ohm speakers, and 200 watts (stereo, so 100 watts per speaker), it can supply 20 volts (P = V^2 / R). If you used 8 ohm speakers to this amplifier, each speaker would only get 50 watts powered at full output voltage. Alternatively, if it is designed for 8 ohm speakers and 100 watts per speaker, it can provide 40 volts. If you used 4 ohm speakers instead, each speaker could be given 200 watts at 40 volts, resulting in severe overheating and damage to the amplifier. This applies to your case as well: it is OK to hook up higher impedance speakers to a lower impedance amplifier, but you will get less power delivered. If you do the opposite (lower impedance speakers to higher impedance amplifier), keep the volume low or you could burn out the amp.

What is measured in watts and begins with p?

Watts is the measurement of energy conversion. Power is measured in watts.

What is the power of light bulb measured in?

Impedance is measured in what?

AnswerThe unit of measurement for impedance is the ohm.

What measures in watts?

Power is measured in watts.

Do speakers have watts?

No they don't.

How do you figure watts for 8 Ohm speakers?

The power rating of speakers has nothing specific to do with ohms. look at the Watts rating printed somewhere on the speakers
