The slip measures the percentage by which the actual speed is less than the synchronous speed.
AC motors have a synchronous speed of 3000 rpm on a 50 Hz system, or 3600 rpm on 50 Hz. Some motors might have a synchronous speed half or a third of those speeds (or less), because the synchronous speed must be divided by the number of pole-pairs.
For a 50 Hz motor running at 2850 rpm the slip is (3000-2850)/3000 or 5%. The slip speed is 2850 rpm.
SLIP is the difference between the synchronous speed of the magnetic field and the shaft rotating speed and would be some number of RPM or frequency.
The slip increases with an increasing load, thus providing a greater torque.
slip power is a power which is develop by the induced voltage and current in an induction motor
short the rotor terminals.
induction motor is AC motor also synchronic motors are AC motors but second one has not slip but first one has slip . shut motor is DC motor

Squirrel Cage Induction Motor Disadvantages:Some of disadvantages or demerits of squirrel cage induction motors are listed below:Main disadvantage of squirrel cage induction motor is that they have poor starting torque and high starting currents. Starting torque will be in the order of 1.5 to 2 times the full load torque and starting current is as high as 5 to 9 times the full load current. In slip ring induction motors, higher starting torque can be attained by providing an external resistance in the rotor circuits during starting of the slip-ring induction motor. This arrangement in slip-ring induction motors also reduces the high inrush currents during starting of induction motor.Squirrel cage induction motors are more sensitive to the supply voltage fluctuations. When the supply voltage is reduced, induction motor draws more current. During voltage surges, increase in voltage saturates themagnetic components of the squirrel cage induction motor.Speed control is not possible in squirrel cage induction motor. This is one of the major diadvantages of squirrel cage induction motors. The total energy loss during starting of squirrel cage motor is more compared to slip ring motors. This point is significant if the application involves frequent starting

They are the same thing: (Nsync - N)/Nsync, or 1 - N/Nsync

No,
in case of induction motor the rotor speed is less than synchronous speed giving positive slip but in case of generator the rptor speed is greater than synchronous speed giving negative slip.......

it is the difference between the synchronous and asynchronous speed of a induction motor
According to types ofrotors....Induction motors are classified into two types. They are1.sqirrel guage induction motor2.slip ring induction motor/...........
When you do a load test on a 3-phase induction motor you are checking the power factor, viz slip, and efficiency of the motor. You can test various loads with this test.
