I took a dead one apart and found that my Dorcy Mastercell Heavy Duty 6-volt cell contains four cells wired together. Each cell is the circumference of a D-cell, but is longer--the length of the 6-volt casing.
I have read that Duracell 6-volts contain four regular Duracell D-cells wired together with a styrofoam block to fill the space in the bottom (what a scam). I have also read that Energizer NIMH rechargeable D-cells contain a AA battery and filler--again, what a scam. It is said that you can figure out what you're getting by understanding the mAh ratings on the package--but who understands that stuff?
