It is called Condensation
Water that is absorbed through the soil surface is called seepage. This is water that soaks into the ground, usually in a low spot of the area.
Watershed
Through a process called infiltration: water that seeps into the soil is called groundwater.
soil
The rate at which water passes through any material is called percolation rate of water.

Water is absorbed by plants through the soil. When water is poured into the soil, the roots of the plant soak in the moisture from the soil, which allows the nutrients and vitamins to thrive.

Plants absorb water and nutrients from the soil though their roots.

Its not absorbed really is it, its more a matter of drainage. If your being all technical, then I guess its osmosis, that's the travel of water between cells. but soil is like, well, dead, so its gonna just drain through it.
Plants get their water from rain, humidity, dew, and soil moisture. It is absorbed mostly through the leaves and roots.
Groundwater.
soil
Plants get water from the rain, humans watering them, and water that the soil soaked up.
