This girl is unsure of herself. For some reason she doesn't feel comfortable letting other people know that she is interested in you. The fact that she is nice to you when alone strongly suggests that she is a good person at heart. Next time you talk to her alone you should tell her that you really like her, that she doesn't need to be mean to you in public, and that it is hurtful when she does that. Tell her you want to be her friend but that it is hard to be friends when she insults you in public.
