"Marble" (v.) means to gently mix two different ingredients together using a sweeping figure-eight motion. When preparing cakes using a chocolate and vanilla batter, dollops of the chocolate batter have some of their content dragged through the white vanilla batter, creating swirls in the finished product. The end result shows these swirls together that mimicks the look of cut marble stone.
