The culture of this time was based upon conformity and mass production and consumption due to the flourishing economy of Post World War II. The term Pop Art was coined in 1956 by Richard Hamilton's "Just What Makes Today's Home So Different, So Appealing?" which is a work of art that features many products that would be seen in the American home. To Andy Warhol, another well known Pop artist, said Pop art would be of images that people would immediately recognize. For example, Warhol had repeating images of coke bottles and Campbell soup cans to represent the mass reproduction of the consumer society.
