The slogan or motto, Business is communication and communication is business, means that in order to successfully run a business you must communicate, and communicate using a business language that customers understand and respond to positively. It also implies that the "business (act) of communication" is an ongoing process, fluid, and designed to elicit more communication from (potential or actual) customers so that you can communicate with the customers more.

For example, in Sales, you want to highlight the benefits a customer will get by buying a product or service. But you only highlight a few of the benefits, knowing that customers will ask about other benefits and features prior to a sale-- or you can bring up additional benefits during the decision-making process.

For example, in Supply Fulfillment, you'll need to use precise language that your Seller/Supplier and you mutually understand. If you think of a "flat" as meaning a "case", you could end up with a much higher quantity of products than you wanted to order.

For example, in Billing, you wouldn't use a too-familiar or everyday tone, or a passive tone in requesting a customer pays the bill on time. Wrong language: "You really need to pay your bill cos, you know, I got kids and a wife and 6 mouths to feed, ya know, so I need you to pay your bill on time."

So the more you communicate in business, the more you'll attract customers who in turn give you more opportunities to communicate. The more you communicate well in business, the better your business will be, the more you'll be successful, etc.
