If you're planning on getting a prepaid phone, avoid tracfone at all cost! Virgin Mobile's prepaid service is much better and less expensive! Virgin Mobile (prepaid): $30 - 400 min 50$ - 1000 min as oppose to tracfone: $29.99 - 120 min $39.99 - 200 min Now, would a cell phone plan be cheaper than tracfone? Most likely, depending on how much you talk. Would I recommend tracfone? NO! NO! NO! Tracfone sucks! I can't understand why tracfone users don't opt for better cell phone options. The only reason why I used to have a tracfone was for international calling and texting since there's no extra fees... Bad Idea. There's still better alternatives for international calling such as Vonage. Trac fone sucks! End of story

Can you turn any phone into a tracfone?
There are two types of TracFones now, CDMA and GSM. This refers to the type of network used by the phone. And CDMA phone works only on CDMA networks, and same for GSM. GSM phones have SIM cards, CDMA do not (for the purpose of this discussion, anyway). I'm not clear on your reason for asking this question, but that's your answer. A CDMA phone does not have a SIM card. Not if it is within your country. If you are calling internationally, no matter what phone you use, it is going to be more expensive to call a mobile phone opposed to a landline overseas. Within the states, this is not an issue and you should receive normal billing from your home phone service provider.
If you buy airtime for a tracfone how long does it take to receive it?
It depends on if you buy a calling card or not. If you do use a calling card and you type the 15 digit number into your phone it send you a text in about 30 seconds. I haven't tried any other ways but I plan on trying to sign up on the Tracfone website so I can buy more minutes from my cell phone.

A prepaid cell phone plan is a good value for saving money. Be aware though you may talk much more than you realize and if you do talk alot a prepaid phone can get expensive quickly.

You sure can. If it is out of minutes or its service date has passed, just put in a new pre-paid card code into the phone to redeem minutes and service days. You can also re-activate a phone online via tracfone account. Basically, you can reactivate the phone if you buy more service days/minutes.

Is NET10 a good prepaid cell phone plan?
Net10 is amazing - I have had both a net10 and a tracfone and net10 is by far better. The main reason is that it is always 10 cents/minute for a call - anywhere, anytime. Some net10 phone models also offer 3 cent texting. They also have more modern, sleek, and "stylish" phone models. This would be a good phone if you make frequent calls and texts. If you don't use the phone often then a tracfone might be a better option to look in to.

It depends on the cell phone provider. Some of the larger companies have access to more cell phone towers allowing them a great coverage area. However some of the cheaper companies have access to the same towers. So it all depends on your area.
