magma, above the surface is lava
These are igneous rocks.
Magma is molten material that when cooled forms a solid called igneous rock
Igneous rocks are formed from the molten liquid minerals that lie below the earth's crust. Intrusive igneous rocks forms in magma chambers that are deep underground it is molten by heat and pressure. Extrusive igneous rocks forms when magma makes its way to Earth's surface when the molten rock erupts.Jennifer
The earth's tectonic plates are said to "float" on layers of magma, which is molten, or very hot liquid rock deep under the surface of theearth.

A volcan form when molten magma, formed deep in the Earth, makes its way to the surface.
A magma chamber is a large underground pool of molten rock found beneath the surface of the Earth. The molten rock in such a chamber is under great pressure, and given enough time, that pressure can gradually fracture the rock around it creating outlets for the magma. If it finds a way to the surface, then the result will be a volcanic eruption; consequently many volcanoes are situated over magma chambers. Magma chambers are hard to detect, and most of the known ones are therefore close to the surface of the Earth, commonly between 1 km and 10 km under the surface. In geological terms this is extremely close to the surface, although in human terms it is considerably deep underground.
Most silicate minerals are formed when molten rock cools at either the earths surface, or deep underground.
Magma is heated to its molten state via heat from the Earth's core and that heat is held in by the earths crust. Once on the surface there is nothing to keep it molten and is it cooled by the outside air.
Metamorphic rocks are often found deep under the earth's surface because metamorphic rocks form from heat and pressure. Therefore, they form while they are under the earth's surface.
Lava is molten rock. The rock deep inside the earths mantle is always molten, and when it occasionally breaks through to the surface, the opening is called a volcano, and the liquid rock spilling out of the top is lava.
