It is normal for pugs to breathe very fast and hard when hot, as it is for all small dogs. Dogs can only sweat through their mouth, and paw pads. Since pugs have a very small nasil cavity, they are unable to properly cool themselves off by panting, so you should never take a pug outside for long in weather over 80 degrees Fahrenheit.

∙ 13y agoYes, they have trouble breathing if the temperature is above 80 to 85 degrees. This is because their nose is very small. Some pugs are prone to have eye infections and other health issues but most of them are very healthy little dogs. They are great with children and are a quiet breed. If you live in an apartment these dogs are perfect. Basically pugs are a cute, quiet, and mostly an easy breed to take are. I hope this helped.
