The earth's continental crust is made up predominantly of Silicon and Aluminium, and is known as SI-AL

The continents "float" on the subcrust of SI-MA which is made up of Silicon and Magnesium. The SIMA forms the outer mantle.

Below this is inner mantle; and below that lies the outer and inner core of the earth. The core is made up of Nickel and Iron, it is sometimes known as NI-FE.
