Haiti..........Haiti isn't that much worse off now than they were before the earthquake.
With the exception of course of the death and injuries caused by the quake. My point is they all lived in cardboard make shift tents and housing before the earthquake. 95% of all Haitians had nothing to begin with, so they didn't lose much of anything with monetary value. That is the main thing that is hindering relief efforts, all this money is pouring in, but they needed this money before the quake. Unlike New Orleans and Mississippi, Haiti has no infrastructure to rebuild.
This according to the N.Y. Times anyway.

It is actually on the border of being a less developed and a more developed country -- being the most developed country in the whole of Africa with an infrastructure that is often comparable with those in more developed countries. But there is a huge disparity between the living standards of the rich, mostly in the cities, and the millions from the rural areas or those masses who have accumulated in informal settlements around the cities. On the whole, the majority do not reap the benefits of a welfare state, to say the very least.
