Plant Utilization usually is referring to the rate a plant is producing compared to what the plant actually could produce. (Ex.) Say a plant could produce 100 units in a year, however, management only decided to produce 70 units in that year....that year the plant was run at a 70% plant utilization

Highlight the characteristics of good plant layout?

Where a workspace is poorly designed or laid out, cluttered or otherwise inconvenient, workers must perform additional tasks or travel additional distances in order to do their jobs. This means wasted time and effort, which detracts from productivity. A well-designed plant with a good layout allows workers to perform tasks efficiently and with a minimum of extraneous effort.

What is multi- point industry?

Multinational enterprises are large corporations with employers and businesses all over the world.Usually, the head offices and research and development activities are geographically separated with production activities. They are multi- plant firms. As production processes of a product is located in different plants, it is known as multi- point production. If the plants are located in different countries, it is known as multinational industry. To decide the location of new firms, it is usually depended on professional managers who may live in different regions. They have many choices facing changes in factor of location, e.g. shut down a plant, open a new plant or change the production level of existing plants.

What kind of factor is a plant?

A plant is a biotic factor.

What does over utilization mean?

Over utilization means that the processing plant cannot cope with it workload and is over worked as p >1. The system will be unstable as the utilization factor [p] should be less than 1 strickly between 0.75 and 0.9 for the machine to be stable. If a machine is over utilized , the maintenance cost will be greater and the wear and tear will be exponentially increased thus more down time causing a slow in production

What is a utilization factor with respect to solar power?

Two possibilities: With respect to a single Solar PV Panel: Utilization Factor = efficiency of a solar panel (Energy captured out of energy available) With respect to an entire Solar PV System: Utilization Factor = Ratio of DC in solar panels to AC inverter rating. Typically a 1.15-1.18 utilization factor is desired. This accounts for 1. DC line loss from the panel to the inverter 2. Degradation of solar panels over the system lifespan 3. Non-tracking systems use extra DC from panels when the sun is not direct
