USB ports are fast replacing traditional and ports because of their ability to transfer data quickly?
The Universal Serial Bus (USB) send the signal serially. This
would be slower than handling the data in parallel. Modern advances
in processing speed has made the USB as fast as older parallel
ports.
The main advantage of USB is ease of use and 'plugability'. You
can attach peripheral devices without switching the computer off
first. They are 'Hot Swapable'.
There are only four contact pins on a USB socket. Two power and
two data lines. This makes it simple, cheap and safe.
