∙ 11y agothe purpose of password protecting files is that it unables people to hack into your profiles etc. So always make sure that you use passwords for most things on a computer or any other electronic items that could be hacked.

You can also password protect files in such a way that they can be opened but the person only has limited things they can do, stopping them from adjusting important data, or maybe allowing them to view data and not make any changes at all.
