Best Answer

Sensor surveillance using RADAR (Radio Direction And Ranging), which is a non-cooperative location system, often producing maps of reflected power intensity arranged in range and direction to provide a plan view of the surveillance area.

How do cobra radar detectors work and who uses them?

Cobra radar detectors are devices used to detect if the police are monitoring your car or checking your speed limit using a radar gun. This is used by motorist so they can fix their speed before getting pulled over.

What tools are used in monitoring a tornado?

The primary tool in monitoring tornadoes is Doppler weather radar. Communication tools such as radios and cell phones are used by people to call in reports of tornadoes and funnel clouds.

What are some nonmilitary uses for radar besides weather?

Radar can be used to detect distance to an object by determining round trip echo time. Some uses below: Level monitoring of substances in a container or silo-the radar antenna transmits downward from the top of the container and determines the distance to the top of the substance, allowing the operator to determine the amount of substance in the tank. Radar can be used by vehicle collision avoidance systems. Basically, any time distance to an object is required, radar is an excellent solution.

What is the advantage of radar over all other remote sensing technique?

Radar has the advantage of being able to penetrate through clouds, smoke, and dust, allowing it to gather data in all weather conditions. Additionally, radar can operate day and night, making it a versatile remote sensing technique for continuous monitoring. Radar can also provide high-resolution images and has the ability to detect small changes on the Earth's surface.

Is the Doppler radar the only satellite radar in the world?

Actually the Doppler Radar aka nexrad Next generation radar is not a satellite it is a radar. Satellites are floating around the world in space and Doppler radars are here on earth to monitor weather. As far as I know the Doppler radar is the only weather radar in the world. It is basically the only thing used for monitoring weather. I the above is not quite correct. Weather radars come in two basic types coherent and non-coherent. The Coherent radar come in Doppler Radar which can be FMCW or Active Pulse Doppler. The non coherent Pulse Radar merely aim high energy pulses at the clouds and display the returned power in a colour display. The coherent version integrates many pulses together to gain a Higher signal to Noise and to detect water drops moving in clouds. That aside, to answer the question which has nothing to do with weather radar, Doppler radar is frequency used in space verticals because its coherent processing gains in achieves help to offset the ranges it operates over, but it is not the only radar technique to be used on satellites and it depends on what the radar is trying achieve. Note that Doppler radar is non a synonymous exclusively of "nexrad Next generation radar".

What are two uses of radar?

The modern uses of radar are highly diverse, including air traffic control, radar astronomy, air-defense systems, antimissile systems; marine radars to locate landmarks and other ships; aircraft anticollision systems; ocean surveillance systems, outer space surveillance and rendezvous systems; meteorological precipitation monitoring; altimetry and flight control systems; guided missile target locating systems; and ground-penetrating radar for geological observations. High tech radar systems are associated with digital signal processing and are capable of extracting objects from very high noise levels.
