Best Answer

Raven

Powers: Telekinesis/levitation, teleportation, and some measure of empathic and healing abilities; also able to project a "soul self"

Height: 5ft 4in

Age:15 yes at the beginning, then 16,now she is 18

Alignment: Hero

Background

Being born the daughter of a demon father, Trigon, and a human mother, Arella, Raven has had a difficult life. Born and raised in the dimension of Azarath, she was taught how to use her Azarathean powers of healing and empathic abilities. Due to the violent nature of her father, who manifests himself in her as rage, she needs to control her emotions at all times to prevent him from corrupting her. Her main powers consist of telekineses and projections of her "soul self" to disorient, scare, teleport, and potentially harm her opponent.

How Raven got from Azarath to Earth is unknown, but during the scuffle with Starfire in "Go!", she was the only one to point out to Robin that the alien girl was cuffed. During the subsequent cease-fire between Starfire and the others, Raven joined with them in helping Starfire to escape the Gordanians and defeat Lord Trogaar to save the city. She most likely formally joined the team right after, before the construction of Titans Tower.

Even though they worked well as a team, none of the other Titans really understood Raven, causing her and the other Titans to remain distant. This culminated in Beast Boy calling Raven creepy, causing her to meditate in isolation on the roof of the Tower. Cyborg forces Beast Boy to go and apologize to her but they end up accidentally breaking into her room. While inside, Beast Boy finds Raven's mirror, a portal into her mind, and gets both of them trapped inside it where they meet other manifestations of Raven's emotions. After traversing Raven's mind with the help of some of them (Happy, Timid, and Brave), the regular Raven joins them right outside the doorway that will take them back into the real world. There they are attacked by the mental manifestation of Trigon (whom it should be noted is different than the actual manifestation of Trigon seen in season five). After helping a reluctant Raven to defeat her father, they all return to the real world, leaving Beast Boy and Cyborg with a much greater understanding of Raven.

During an altercation with the Puppet Master, Raven and Starfire's souls became temporarily trapped in each other's bodies. In order to defeat the Puppet Master, they shared their life stories with each other to understand the others' powers. Although short, Raven and Starfire learned a lot and gained a mutual respect for each other, and now join the other in activities like meditation or going to the mall.

Throughout season 1, Raven remained somewhat distant from Cyborg, until his prized creation, the T-car, was stolen during a fight with Overload in "Car Trouble." Scolding him, she reminds him it was "just a car," causing Cyborg to walk out on the others to find his baby. Having gone looking for him, she found him sitting at a drive-thru having just consumed a large amount of milkshakes. Apologizing, she tells him that she understands how much his car means to him, and reveals that every time she uses her telekinesis to "posess" an object she has to put a little of herself in the object. She really bonds with Cyborg after the destruction of the T-car when she helps Cyborg rebuild it from scratch.

Her dedication to the team and her friends becomes even more clear during "Apprentice Part 2" when she along with the other Titans are willing to sacrifice themselves for Robin's forced apprenticeship.

During season 2, her relations with the other Titans remained pretty much the same. In an alternate future timeline following the events in "How Long Is Forever?", it is revealed that Raven needs her friends maybe even more than they need her. She became reclusive after the disbanding of the Teen Titans following Starfire's disappearance into the future. Without her friends, there was nothing left for her, and she withdrew into her own mind. This never came to pass, however, as the normal timeline was restored after Starfire successfully returned to the past.

The appearance of Terra causes friction within the team because Raven neither likes nor trusts her. It took a combined forced effort with Robin to make them work together in stopping Slade from sinking Titans Tower into the ground but in the end Raven started to trust Terra. This trust was shattered when Terra was fully under the influence of Slade and betrayed the Titans. Despite this, after Terra sacrificed herself after killing Slade to save the Titans, Raven concurred with the others that they'll find a way to return Terra to normal.

In the third season, Raven finds love with a wizard named Malchior who, during a fight with a dragon, was trapped inside a book. But her heart is broken after the betrayal of Malchior, who turns out to be an evil dragon that swapped his name with the wizard, Rorek, in order to use her to help him escape. Raven also displays a new ability to dive into another's mind using her soul self during "Haunted" when Robin comes under the influence of a hallucinogen that makes him see Slade everywhere.

Raven's destiny becomes truth during season 4 after Slade returns from the dead to deliver Trigon's message to her. Her arms, legs and torso are imprinted with magic marks to help her become the portal. Later on during "The Prophecy", Raven is forced to reveal her destiny to her friends, who in secret begin making preparations to fight and defeat Trigon.

During the triple episode arch "The End", Raven surrenders to Slade to spare her friends from death, ultimately becoming the portal and disappearing from the face of the Earth. After being told by Slade that Raven is still alive, Robin goes in search of her. He finds her, but she's been turned into a child and is fearful of her father and refuses to come back with Robin. Eventually, they both return her to the surface and she realizes that she can still fight. She rapidly ages to her normal age and quickly defeats Trigon.

Season 5 heralds Raven's ultimate challenge when she has to babysit a trio of very young superheroes across the Alps while being pursued by Monsieur Mallah of the Brotherhood of Evil. Despite the frequent annoying behaviour of the children, Raven successfully finishes her mission in the end. In "Titans Together," it was she who rescued the children and brought them to the Brotherhood's hideout in Paris, showing just how much she ended up caring for the kids.

She is currently still a core member of Titans West.

Personality

The burden that Raven is forced to carry in the form of her father's legacy greatly influences her relationships with the other Titans. The demonic manifestation of Trigon as her rage needs to be kept in check at all times to prevent the end of the world. Therefore Raven is a calm, composed and sometimes a bit unemotional girl. Her fear of Trigon's influence taking a hold of her means that she rarely gets to express herself emotionally and needs to meditate often. Despite desiring peace and calm in her surroundings, about which she often complains to the other Titans, she does enjoy their companionship. Following the events in "Switched", she even lets Starfire join her in meditation.

She and Starfire also have a crush on Aqualad, although she never pursued a relation with him apart from a friendship.

Her relation with Malchior let her experience love and happiness like she's never felt before. She always distanced herself from others for their protection, although she does seem to enjoy a friendly relation with Goth Boy. During her relationship with Malchior, her emotional stability and calmness was expressed by changing the color of her cloak, leotard and boots to white. She became much more outgoing and friendly. His betrayal hit her very hard, and immediately after sealing him back in the book returned to her normal attire.

Raven is very strong-minded but has shown a tendecy to be fatalistic. Following the events in "The Prophecy" Raven accepted her fate as portal for Trigon, despite attempts of her friends to get her to fight. During "The End" she gave up resisting Slade and Trigon in order to save her friends, even leaving a little bit of her soul self in them for protection against Trigon. This however suggests a certain confidence in her fellow Titans to continue fighting Trigon and perhaps even saving her. She seems to value her friends above herself even to extend of self-sacrifice.

Cyborg and Robin are most arguably her closest friends, with Cyborg being there for emotional support and Robin more as a soundboard. She respects them both greatly.

Starfire's exuberance and Beast Boy's endless amount of corny jokes sometimes drives her insane, but she does consider both very close friends.

As if a pre-cursor to her relationship with Malchior, Raven was greatly troubled by Terra's betrayal in season two. After initial distrust and skepticism, Raven loosened up and the two apparently became good friends, making the betrayal all the more severe to Raven. During "Aftershock Part 2," out of all the Titans, Raven fought the fiercest, even going so far as to drop a bus on Terra. Although hurt by the events, Raven and the Titans did all they could to try to find a way to revive her. When it was suggested she had returned in "Things Change," it was Raven who suggested that if it was truly her, due to the events in her past, perhaps she did not want to be found. True to her character, Raven again acted as the voice of reason.

Undoubtedly, Raven has been one of the most dynamic characters of the series, and remains a fan favourite.
