They didn't land on the moon in a rocket. The Saturn V was the launch vehicle for the Apollo spacecraft, but the crew landed in a vehicle known as the Lunar Module (LM). Apollo 11's LM call sign was Eagle.
Neil Armstrong was the first man on the moon. The rocket that took the crew there was a Saturn 5 rocket and thermally module was called LM-5, known as the 'Eagle'.
what is IS-LM?
No. Apollo 9 launched on March 3, 1969. the crew spent 10 days in low earth orbit and performed docking and extraction tests of the LM and command module.
lm; lm;
LM is a manufacturer's code--all LM chips were made by National Semiconductor. Similarly, SN chips were made by Texas Instruments.
New LM was created in 1976.
The Saturn V rocket was divided into many parts and sections. It was a multi-stage rocket divided into 3 main parts. On top of the third and final stage was the spacecraft that the crew needed for a trip from the Earth to the Moon. The space craft consisted of the LM: Lunar Module; The SM: Service Module and the CM: Command Module. 3 astronauts could fit in the CM while only the LM was designed for only 2. The service module was unmanned but had all the fuel and oxygen for the crew.
LM stands for "Linear Monolithic"

The LM pilot is the person who pilots the Lunar Module, the mini-space ship that lands on the Moon. "LM" = Lunar Module.
