What is the danger of repeated use of scabicides and pediculicides?

Scabicides should only be used under controlled programme by you're gp or dermatologist as they are pesticides meaning substance that kills parasites. The most common adverse affect after frequent use is drying of the skin causing the person to itch thinking they still have a scabies infestation etc ,another is thinning of the skin so skin becomes more fragile and vulnerable. The most deadly of all is the possibiliity of neuro damage and developing cancer as the properties if overused can accerelate cell changes. It has been known to contain carciogenic ingredients. Use the scabicides as told by you're doctor no more than once a week is applied. Scabies produces a post syndrome which can last up to 4 weeks after successful treatment ,though the symptoms should be less than when infected its normal to still get a few pimples every few days that don't itch a nd itching during the night should not happen ,just a little scratch here and there .also if you get burrows go back to doctor treatment has defintley failed wait till 4 weeks after treatment that's second application and if you're still itching consult your doctor if you get burrows see your doctor before the 4 weeks are up.

How long do you keep Nix lice cream on your head?

Nix is actually sold as a treatment for lice but it can also be used for treating scabies. Scabies are mites that burrow under your skin. They are most often found in your armpits, around your waist or breasts, between your fingers or toes, around your buttocks, around your ankles, the soles of your feet or on your genitals. They cause intense itching that can be worse at night. Using Nix to treat scabies: 1 - Apply a thin coat of Nix Cream Rinse over your entire body from the neck down, and rub it in well. Leave it on your skin for at least 8 hours but no more than 14 hours. (Infants over 2 months of age should be treated on the scalp, temple and forehead also. Talk to a doctor about treating infants younger than 2 months of age.) 2 - Wash yourself thoroughly to remove all of the Nix. One treatment is usually sufficient to get rid of scabies. Other scabicides you can purchase over the counter (OTC) include Acticin and Elimite. More information on treating scabies at link.

Can you kill head lice with dandruff shampoo?

No. The active ingredient in Head & Shoulders shampoo is Zinc Pyrithione. This successfully kills fungus and bacteria and treats seborrheic dermatitis (dandruff) but not lice. Today, chemical treatments called pediculicides are used to treat lice including organochlorines, organophosphates, carbamates and pyrethrins. Some people confuse dandruff for lice eggs and therefore assume that Head & Shoulders shampoo treats lice when really it is just getting rid of dead skin flakes.
