The explosion on Black Tom island was not a munitions factory, but at a shipping facility near the Statue of Liberty, and was caused by sabotage. It was one of the worst acts of terrorism on US soil. In today's currency, it would have caused $ 433 million in damages, killed at least 7 people, damaged the Statue of Liberty, caused the evacuation of Ellis island, etc.
