Small bore ngt (Nasogastric tube) is a tube inserted through the nostril (nare) that is flexible and soft (8 French-12 French diameter) used for feedings, and kept in place longer than a large bore ngt.

Large bore ngt (Nasogastric tube) is a tube inserted through the nostril (nare) that is less flexible and more firm (14 French diameter or larger) used for feedings, to give medications, and for gastric decompression. It is kept in place for a shorter period than a small bore ngt.
