Streaming is a live broadcast that is transmitted over the internet in real time. This can be in the form of:

- audio

- or any other type of real time transmission
Examples of live streaming are:
- watching a live soccer or Basketball game on your television
- live online classes offered by some colleges or training programs
- live new reporting by the media
Live streaming is preferred in some situations than stored data because:
- it does not take up any space on your computer hard drive
- people usually prefer to watch a live streaming soccer game than to watch it at a later date.
- live streaming can be broadcast to any location with many people watching at the same time.
