1 - 3 - 7 - 2 - 6 - 5 - 4 - 8 The distributor rotor turns counterclockwise The marked # 1 position on the distributor cap faces to the rear and slightly towards the drivers side The engine cylinders / spark plugs are numbered : 4 - 8 3 - 7 2 - 6 1 - 5 front
351w,351m,wiring and distribution fireing order=1-3-7-2-6-5-4-8
Firing order for a 351 H.O. is 1-3-7-2-6-5-4-8
if you mean firing order , it is written on the inlet manifold
Answer Firing orderThe firing order for a 302 (5.0) is 15426378 and a 351W (5.8) is 13726548. Be aware that both engines fire in a counterclockwise rotation. The 300 6 cylinder is 153624 with a clockwise rotation. The HO 302(5.0) has the same firing order as the 351W. Generally speaking, older 302s have the 15426378 firing order, while newer "5.0" 302s have the 13726548 firing order. The proper firing order for the engine is usually cast into the intake manifold.
same as 302 if memorey serves I believe that on boss 302, 351w, and also 400, the fireing order is 1-3-7-2-6-5-4-8.
Sorry don't have the specs , but it should be cast on your intake manifold.
Should be the same firing order.
First thing is count the valve cover bolts. If it has 6 then it is a 302 or 351.The 351W has a taller deck height than the 302. (a 302 will have the intake almost flush with the base of the distributor... where it goes into the block..... a 351w will have about 1/2 inch lip there where the intake meets the block.) The lower thermostat housing bolt on the 302 will be below the top of the water pump and you won't be able to put a socket on it. On the 351W you can remove the bolt with a socket. 351C manifolds are dry, no water passages or thermostat housing....thermostat housing goes into the front of the block. 351w uses 18mm spark plugs and the 351c uses 14mm spark plugs. 351w fuel pump bolts are on left & right sides. 351c fuel pump bolts are on the top & bottom.
1-3-7-2-6-5-4-8
There are different ways. One is that the 351w fuel pump bolts to the timing cover, the 351c bolts to the engine block. Water flows through the 351w intake manifold and does not on the 351c. The 351w has inline valves and the 351c has canted valves. The 351w has squared intake ports and the 351c has huge round ports. Hope this helps some.
Anything ispossible I ones swap a 351W to a Strait 6 Cyl.
AnswerThe firing order of the early 351W engine is different from the late 351W engines. The early 351Ws firing order is 1-3-7-2-6-5-4-8, while the smaller Windsor engines firing order is 1-5-4-2-6-3-7-8. What makes this interesting is that 289/302 cams are completely interchangeable with 351W cams, providing you match the firing order to the camshaft. If a 289/302 cam is used in a 351W engine, the firing order must be changed to the 302 sequence 1-5-4-2-6-3-7-8 by moving the wires on the distributor cap. The same procedure is used if a 351W cam is used in a 289/302W engine where the firing order in the distributor cap must match the camshaft. Not only is the firing order different on the 302- and 351W engines, but Ford also numbers its cylinders differently than GM engines. On the Ford it is 1,2,3,4 on the passenger side starting at front of engine, and 5,6,7,8 on the drivers side.I don't know who gave that "answer", but they must be Chevy people!! The 351Modified is NOT a WINDSOR engine!! It is derived from the 351CLEVELAND and it and its big brother the 400 share nothing with the little Windsor. The firing order for the 351/400M engines is 1-3-7-2-6-5-4-8. All the blah blah about 289 cams etc. is totally irrelevant to the question!!
