go to your local gm dealer and ask service. If they can't help the parts department can pull it up. I just did it last week

Check the 96 Blazer for any vacuum leaks in the system. A vacuum leak can cause the air flow to only come out of the heat vent.
gm says 96 and 97 are identical and can be changed back and forth
Try replacing the engine coolant sensor.
It doesn't have or need a line connected to it. The spider is inside the vacuum chamber.
Try replacing the engine coolant temp sensor.

No it will not fit CORRECTLY. You will need to get a 96 or 97 4L60E transmission so it will fit and everything will BOLT UP.
