gm says 96 and 97 are identical and can be changed back and forth
NO they are not.
You may need to replace the 4x4 engager switch or replace the fuse in your fuse box.
First place, 2-wheel drive and 4-wheel drive transmissions will NOT interchange they are different. There is only 2 years that will work in the 96 and that is a 96 and 97 4L60E 4-wheel drive transmission.
Yes but it will last about 5 minutes. The bolt pattern is the same however the gear ratios are different as well as the internal components are lighter in a V6 application,. NEW ANSWER: SORRY but you are wrong. First place is that the center shaft that runs through the transmission is longer on the 4x4 transmissions so you can install a transfer case on the rear of it. The 2-wheel drive transmissions center shaft is shorter. And most of all is that in late 1999 Chevy redesign all the engines and transmissions and none of them will interchange with anything under 1999. Also the v-6 transmissions won't even bolt up to a V-8 engine.
4x4 will jerk when accel. especially while turning. It is alot of torque on all four wheels pulling at the same time. You should only accel slowly with 4x4 on, especially in 4x4 low.
NO. Not even close. Chevy redesigned ALL the TRANSMISSIONS and ENGINES in late 1999. Anything above 1999 WILL NOT FIT anything under 1999.
All A4LD 4X4 transmissions are the same.. just make sure that you are getting and A4LD.. any questions feel free to call or e-mail Macs Transmissions (Houston, TX) 281-394-4951 Macstransmissions@gmail.com
Inside the alternator. All GM products have been internally regulated since about 1972.
one on each cylinder bank and then before and after the cat converter. there all on the exhaust.

NO.. It will not even begin to bolt up.In late 1999 chevy REDESIGNED all the engines and transmissions. Everything from late 1999 and up is DIFFERENT then late 1999 and down. Nothing will interchange.
