The safest deicer for bricks or concrete is a product called Magic Salt. I saw my neighbor ruin his brick walk by using salt and calcium chloride. They stained the bricks white. Another friend told me about Magic Salt. Now I've been using it for three years without a problem and it works great. The only downside is that its not sold in stores. You can buy it online at Magic Salt Sales.
