You will need an adapter kit from Kennedy Engineered Products, a radiator (which I would put in the front of the car), airflow to and from the radiator (louvers?), a welder so you can make engine mounts according to the plans in the Kennedy kit, and the rest of the Subaru if this engine is fuel injected so you can recover the wiring harness and fuel injection control box...if you have lots of tools and are good at fabricating things from scratch or have lots and lots of money to hire skills you don't have, the engine will fit in the car.
Any transmission that is bolted to the same engine number. My subaru has an ea82 engine so any transmission that is bolted to an ea82 engine will fit. It has to be the same as far as automatic replacing automatic. Manual replacing manual.
fit a subaru engine
pretty much any subaru engine will fit into any subaru if you know what your doing. but i would suggest going for a motor from a 2001 forester to be safe.
No. The halfshafts in an ea81's (80-84) and ea82's are larger. If your XT is turbo you must use an axle from another turbo subaru between 85-89 so xt (turbo), gl10(turbo) and RX. dosent matter from which because all the turbo ea82's are almost identical. However, if your XT is non turbo, it will take any axle from 85-89 gl,dl,gl10(non turbo) and brat. Heres a great Subaru site for older generation Subarus.... www.ultimatesubaru.org
yes, I just put a 1997 2.5 liter engine in a 1998
8th digit of VIN is engine code. If identical, then yes.
Physically, yes. Prepare for fun w/ wiring and engine control...
If you want the same engine look at the drivers side of the engine block for a ID should start with a E eg.EJ22. If you want a different engine well nearly every 4cyl subaru engine can be swapped around 6cyl are larger and may fit. you can fit a ej22 into a brat and a ej22T with a little bit of modification.
the 1989 through 1993 subarus were one series. should bolt on so long as the engine is the same model.
will my Mitsubishi evo wheel s fit on a Subaru impreza
the 1980 one is a little bigger so you will have to lube in with corn syrope to get it to fit
Will fit Legacy/Outback Model Year 1995 to 1999.
