The EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation) light is alerting you to inspect and service the EGR system. The light is triggered by the odometer, not the system, so after it is checked and serviced, you'll need to reset it under the dash board.
Maybe it's not closing all the way? I have a 96 roadmaster wagon and have been getting check engine light lately - code error is EGR related P0400. Found out there is service bulletin for corrosion problems with the valve.
it usually means the the EGR valve needs to be replaced. If your car is "bucking" on start up then for sure it is the EGR valve.
Mine did this and come to find out it needed a EGR valve. manifold caused this to come on.
Code 12 is a faulty EGR valve. You need to clean or replace the EGR valve of all carbon. The exhaust passage on which the EGR is mounted needs to be cleaned of carbon deposit as well. The flashing D4 light indicates a transmission problem. This needs to be looked at by a professional.
Just because a code that is titled to a particular system is noted does not mean that component is bad. Check the passageway.
try the solenoid controlling the egr
If vacuum hose to EGR is ok, then valve may need to be replaced, or passages cleaned out.
The EGR valve is sticking open You can remove and try to clean it but most likely you will have to change it. Cleaning rarely works. The code description is EGR pintle position error
I's a problem with the EGR system and or the EGR solenoid.
Engine light on
Plugged EGR passage which restricts the flow of exhaust gasses, faulty EGR solenoid, faulty EGR solenoid wiring/harness, vacuum lines damaged or disconnected to the EGR valve solenoid or to the EGR valve, or a faulty EGR valve.
Assuming you mean the egr valve, I would make sure that you have the check engine codes cleared. In addition, are you sure that it was truly the egr valve, and not the DPFE sensor monitoring the valve?
