Unlike the other Greek gods who are all supposed to have power over a specific aspect of life, Gaia ("Earth") simply is 'the mother of them all' . She is often supposed to have been the divine inspiration of the Oracle of Delphi, but was said to have passed on her powers to her son, the god Apollo.

Gaia was venerated as 'the mother-god', but was not attributed with specific powers.
