The main goal of Hinduism is to achieve emancipation from sufferings. This is known as moksha and means salvation from samsara which is achieved by unifying yourself to the universal soul.
The ultimate goal of existence in Hinduism is Moksha, in Buddhism it is Nirvana, in most of the other parts of the world, it is enlightenment and salvation. It is the ultimate goal for everybody. What is this ultimate goal of life? The ultimate goal of life is to be liberated from the cycle of death and rebirth. The ultimate goal of life is to live a life of ultimate happiness, devoid of any misery, suffering and pain. Yes, we can overcome this triple suffering of the body, mind and ego. We can be liberated from rebirth and be united with the Divine. This is the ultimate goal to realize we are the Divine Soul, to realize the truth about life and overcoming our ignorance. In Hinduism, it is defined as Mukti when alive and Moksha ultimately after death.
The ultimate goal for those who follow Sanatana Dharma is to attain moksha, that is to be freed from the cycle or births in this world. The soul of someone who attains moksha will join Brahman, or they might choose to be born again to guide people.
Additional information:
While the above is generally true, there are more specific answers. Goal of Hinduism is actually a set of four goals called Purusharthas. Among them, if one ultimate goal has to be picked, it is 'Moksha' or liberation. Liberation from the bondage of birth-death cycle and becoming one with the Supreme being.
The four-fold goals are 1. Dharma 2. Artha 3. kama and 4. Moksha. (2) Artha and (3) Kama deal with worldly life and Moksha deals with divine life.
More specifically,
(1) Dharma is the state of being that balances the worldly life and spiritual life. One has to lead a life of religious discipline to attain and sustain this state of being.
(2) Artha is means required to achieve a goal. Artha is generally interpreted as money, but this is a narrow meaning of the word Artha. In a broader sense, Artha implies all means required to lead a good life. Means required to lead good life include food, clothing, shelter and so on, on the mundane plane, and right knowledge, good character and conduct on the mental and intellectual plane.
(3) Kama literally means desire and implies desires of the body and senses. Hinduism requires that desires should be fulfilled in accordance with Dharma and Moksha. That is, Artha and Kama have to be fulfilled according to Dharma in a way that it leads to happiness without disturbing the spiritual bliss. This way, one becomes free of desires.
(4) Moksha means liberation from desires in an intermediate sense and liberation from the birth-death cycle in an ultimate sense. Desires binds us to action in order to fulfill the desire and consequences of action lead to further desires and action. This leads to a chain of actions called karma bandhana that continues through multiple births. This is called Samsara bandhana or the viscious cycle of birth and death. Liberation from this chain or cycle is the ultimate liberation.
In summary, life should be lead in accordance with Dharma, to lead a happy worldly life of well managed desires and a blissful spiritual life. Leading life this way, one should gradually become free from desires and ultimately free from birth and death cycle. This is the goal of Hinduism.
