Source code. Source code can be written in a high-level like C++, or in a low-level language like assembly. Machine code can also be considered source code if that's what was originally used to write the code, but it is not considered human-readable. In order to read machine code in a human-readable form it must be disassembled, but you cannot reproduce the original source code.

∙ 13y agoThe stuff that the developers produce is called the source code. The bit that the end user sees and works with is called the front-end.
A program is made up of source codes, written in languages like C, C++, Java, etc. It may not be possible for a non-programmer to understand them.
If you want to understand the algorithms, data flows, you can refer to the Documentation or SRS (Software Requirements Specification) of the program. It might help you to understand the program better.
