The Markio shrub is an endangered species of Guatamala. This rare bush is indiginous to the Kalmeno region. It is eaten by sea turtles, as well as the Guatamalan people. The Markio shrub can also be used as a dying substance. The deep red color of the Markio Shrub's skin is often used as a special effect for blood in Hollywood movies. A clear example of this is in the renowned movie "Shooter" starring Mark Wahlberg.

Sea turtles:

Sea turtles dine on a wide variety of undersea shrubs and kelp. But the plant they desire most of all is the markio shrub, which grows on the sides of sunken ships and the like (the treatment on the wood of ancient galleons is nourishing to the markio shrub.) Around the middle of the winter, Christmas time even, when the plant is in full bloom, one could find upwards of 25 sea turtles gathered around a single markio grove.

Guatamalans:

In Guatemala they do things very differently for Christmas. For instance, they put their presents around a shrub, the "markio" shrub, indegenous to their area. As for foods, however, they boil the seeds of the markio shrub in a thick, garlicy oil over an open fire. The sweet seeds are meant to represent the coming year and the sweetness of new experiences, while the oil is the hardships we all must overcome to get to that sweetness.
