Hello, I am 18 weeks pregnant and have applied for medicaid but I wanted to know if I would even be considered with my husbands income. I searched and searched and finally found it. If you go to this link... http://www.dhhs.state.nc.us/dma/basicmedelig.pdf it tells you on page two of the document. Please keep in mind that these are the requirements for people in the state of Texas. Hope this helps!
On a typical paycheck in the United States, you will see income taxes withheld and Medicare/Medicaid/Social Security taxes withheld.
Medicaid is a government program that has the ability to offer health care coverage to men and women who have a low income. Since many men and women are losing their jobs in today's bad economy, Medicaid is one option that could help with health care needs. Since the requirements vary for each state, you may need to find a lawyer that can help you determine if you are eligible for Medicaid.Medicaid DemographicYour Medicaid attorney will tell you that Medicaid is only designed to help men and women with a low financial status. Your attorney may also tell you that the government has categorized certain groups of people that have a better chance of qualifying for Medicaid. This includes people who receive supplemental security income, pregnant women, low-income families that have children, and people that receive foster care income and adoption assistance. However, it is still possible to apply for Medicaid if you do not fit in with any of these demographics. Your own situation may still require you to have Medicaid. IncomeAs mentioned before, only low income families can apply for Medicaid. However, there is no national amount stated for men and women who wish to qualify. Each state has its own income limits. You may wish to contact a Medicaid attorney in order to find out your state's Medicaid qualifications. Keep in mind that the income limit may be lower than the national poverty level. You should also keep in mind that if you are betrothed and you are living with your spouse, you need to include your spouse's income. Medicaid income is based on the size of your household and your combined income.ResourcesYour lawyer should also tell you that Medicaid officials also consider your resources. Your resources are not the same as your income. Your resources can include your property, your bank account funds, your stocks, and your bonds. The amount of resources that you can have in order to qualify for Medicaid varies with each state. However, your primary residence is usually not included as a resource. In addition, some states do not count your vehicle as a resource if you need to use it in order to get to work. Most states state that the total amount of resources that you can have can only have a monetary value of around two thousand dollars.ResidencyIt is a general rule that men and women who do not live in the United States of America are not allowed to receive Medicaid benefits. However, each child that is born in the United States is an automatic citizen. It does not matter if the mother is not a citizen as long as the child is. If this is the case, the mother may need to contact a Medicaid attorney for more information.
There is no time limit on when Medicaid can come after a car that your mother had left. Even if she died almost two years ago, the state could still ask for repayment.
No. These two programs have different eligibility rules and income/asset standards.
After approval for medicaid due to pregnancy, both you and your unborn child should remain covered by medicaid through the duration of your pregnancy, plus two months past the month of childbirth. After the birth of your child, the baby should be eligible for newborn medicaid. Both parents of an eligible child may or may not become eligible for medicaid, depending on income and other factors.
Can you get state assistance? I'm not sure what Medicaid is, sorry if it's state assistance. Some options are looking into a free clinic. They have low to no fees depending on your income. Or going to a doctor that will work with you on a payment plan during and after they baby is born. That may be difficult to find, I'm not sure. There are plenty of options. Call a few doctors and talk with them. They may be able to help you find insurance of some other way to have your baby safely in a hospital. With my experience we couldn't afford health care either & I applied for medicaid & got turned down. Over & over again. My friend told me if I quit & only my husband worked we would get approved for medicaid & she was right. When I quit my job & reapplied for medicaid it got approved. If you and your husband are both working and your income is "too high" to qualify for Medicaid, you can claim that the two of you are separated so only the mother's income will count toward the qualifications. That has helped some people I know get Medicaid.
The usual time limit to decide on a Medicaid application is 45 days (60 days for applications based on disability).

Medicaid based on pregnancy has eligibility rules that are slightly more generous. There is no difference between the two in terms of medical care.
You can fill out a Medicaid application at any time but you cannot get accept into the program before you are over the age of sixty-two for most people. If you are disabled you can apply sooner and see if they will accept you.
