Members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (the "Mormon" church) hold their regular Sunday worship services and congregational activities in a church. A Mormon church can also be called a meetinghouse. These terms (church and meetinghouse) are used interchangeably; both refer to the same building. Mormon churches and the services held there are open to the public. Mormon churches are quite similar to other Christian church buildings - there is a large sanctuary or chapel for the main service, a fellowship hall or gym for activities, several small classrooms, and offices for congregation leadership.
Mormons also have other buildings for worship. These buildings are called Temples. Temples are the most sacred places on earth to Mormons, and because of this, only faithful adult Mormons may enter. Temples are used only for special ceremonies and ordinances, such as weddings. Temples are much larger and more expensive than a regular church or meetinghouse, and can usually be identified by a golden statue of the Angel Moroni on the top of the spire.
