Hello it is for the inflation of your tires and anything that has an air valve stem on it.If you have ever paid any attention when going into your trunk if you see a long hose varies in color mine is brownish and it has like a air pressure gauge on it that is the air hose,and right next to the inflator panel where you asked about the on off switch that is where the hose hooks onto and that in turn saves you about 50 cents whenever you need to inflate your tires or any one elses,built in air pump nice is'nt it. now all I got to do is find out why my service engine soon light stays on and causing my car to stall and mis while driving,well you have a good day and enjoy the air.

"buy a new car." <-------- thats stupid... its a 12 dollar part from ur dealership. its probably just the rubber piece on top of the clutch that pushes in the clutch switch. these fall off all the time and people automatically replace the whole switch. hot glue a penny on the petal where it pushes in the clutch switch and it should start like a charm.
