Roman is an epithet first commonly used in England after the protestant revolt to describe the Catholic Church. It is never used by the Catholic Church.
This is a huge topic, and not one that can properly be covered in a quick answer site like WikiAnswers. An excellent introduction to prayer is covered quite well in Fr. Dubay's Prayer Primer, which you can see at the link below. The Catechism of the Catholic Church has pages and pages on different aspects of prayer, and the entire fourth part is on Christian Prayer. I would recommend that you start with The Catechism, I shall also put a link for that below, as well as a link where you can read the fourth part on prayer online.
Given all that, I would say that the foundation for the proper way of praying is humility. Without humility, as so many saints have said, we cannot be saved, and we certainly can't pray. Of course, we will not be saved if we don't pray, either. After humility, the three basic attitudes - aside from love for God, which should be obvious - is hope, trust, and watchfulness (see The Catechism, pages 2559, 1820, 2734, 2730).
Roman Catholic AnswerFrom the way your question is worded, I should think the only answer would be a Catholic Christian who lives in Rome.
Ah, not sure what you are asking here. The "Roman" Church usually is the Anglican way of referring to the Catholic Church as the Pope, who is Christ's Vicar on earth, and thus head of the Catholic Church, is the Bishop of Rome. Thus if you are using "Roman Church" in that way, it is the same thing as the Catholic Church. If you are not using Roman to refer to the Catholic Church, then you will have to reword you question as I have no idea what you're talking about.
