The United Kingdom is not a state, it is a collection of countries (England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland) that all fall under the power and control of the British Monarchy. Therefore has no 'state bird,' nor does it have any bird officially recognided as emblematic of the entire Kingdom. However, in the 1960s in a vote publicised by The Times newspaper, the Robin was adopted as the unofficial national bird of the United Kingdom, and was then used as a symbol of a Bird Protection Society.
