You are asking about a 1 Cent coin (KM#32) from the Straits Settlements (which corresponds to that portion of present-day Malaysia that is connected to continental Asia). The coin is square with rounded corners, measures 21mm across, and is made of bronze. The front bears a portrait of King George the Fifth and the words "GEORGE V KING AND EMPEROR OF India". The back has two circles, one within the other; in the inner circle is a large "1" with the word "CENT" below; surrounding the inner circle, but within the outer circle, are the words "STRAITS SETTLEMENTS", with the date below. 55,000,000 such coins were produced for circulation in 1920, as well as a small number in proof condition for collectors.
According to the Standard Catalog of World Coins, an example is worth US$0.50 in Fine condition, US$1.50 in Very Fine condition, US$10.00 in Extremely Fine condition, US$40.00 in Uncirculated condition, and US$500.00 in Proof condition.
I have recently aquired one of these for my collection. The Obverse features King Edward VII in the centre with the lettering "EDWARD VII KING & EMPEROR" running around the inside beaded rim. The Reverse features a beaded rim with inside running lettering ". STRAITS SETTLEMENTS . ONE CENT 1908" A centre beaded ring surrounds the number "1" the central part of the "1" has horizontal lines running accross.
From my research these coins value anywhere from $7.50 AUD for a close to scrap condition and up to $50 for Extra Fine/UNCirculated examples. I have not seen any for sale above UNC condition to give an estimate although some guides list AUNC at as much as $100 AUD.
Hope this helps.
