I assume you are interested in comparing conventional medicine to herbal remedies. Conventional medicine originally came from herbal remedies. However, herbal remedies have a problem. They frequently vary in strength and effectiveness.

Walk through a rose garden. Many different varieties grow. The different colors and concentrations of color reflect different chemicals and concentrations of chemicals. To have effective drugs, you need particular chemicals in their pure form. Thus, you must take those plants and purify those compounds and get the drugs in their pure form.

As Steve Jobs showed a number of people, alternative medicine does not cut it. we need pure drugs. We will get a number of chemicals in their pure form. We will not eat willow bark. We will take aspirin.

Next, we go to a Medical Professional. Why? Many medical problems are quite similar to other problems. With several skin problems, the internet seemed to show the same picture for all the different possible diagnoses. The doctor checked something and immediately saw the problem. The individual had been trying to treat the problem with the wrong medicine.

Steve Jobs had a slow growing cancer. It could have been treated and cured with modern medical techniques had it been treated when it was first discovered. Instead, he messed around with alternative medicine. When he turned to conventional medicine, it was too late.

With conventional medicine he could have had an in situ operation for his liver cancer. With that they put a tube in the artery leading to the cancer. They put poison into the tube. It kills the liver cancer. No cutting is involved.

Instead, Jobs waited until it had spread. He took alternative medicine until after he decided it would not work. It was too late.

Ideally, conventional medicine is tested scientifically and behaves in a predictable way that many people understand.

Homeopathic medicine (acupuncture, hypnosis, chiropractic, non-conventional medicine) is not often tested scientifically and has more sporadic or inconsistent quality of results.
