That's a much higher number that I;ve seen on a German Daly but their numbers are hard to track as they started over in 1892 I believe. I believe your gun to be towards the last. Its all the other numbers on your fine gun that give a truer answer. All proof marks should be added here as well as any writting on the gun. I'm thinking this gun is out of the number range for a Lindner gun but nothing is for sure in the gun world.

One difference is that the inside of a shotgun barrel is smooth and the inside of a rifle barrel is what they call "fluted" which puts rotation on the bullet as it moves though the barrel.

You "can" so to say , but if the barrel is not rifled then you will end up damaging it after a little while.

User Avatar

Tough to say without some photos of the gun, especially the barrel flats, but Lindner most likely built it if it's Prussian.

There is no "break in" shotgun. A "break open" shotgun is a single barrel, double barrel, or combination rifle/shotgun which breaks open in the sense that a lever will unlock the action, allowing the barrel to pivot at a hinge at the front of the receiver, pivoting the rear of the barrel up to expose the chamber. A shells may be loaded into the chamber and the barrel pivoted back to close the action. The act to "break in" a shotgun means to fire it a few times to loosen it up.

I would need more information on the gun but can come within a year or two. If you email me I can discuss the gun and then post info about your shotgun. jmann@worldpath.net Best, John Mann

That would depend on the type of barrel with the shotgun(plain, matte solid rib,or vent rib barrel)if a poly choke is present on the end of the barrel, and what condition the shotgun is in.
