That should be a Model 39A, made in 1964. Value would be in the $100-$350 range depending on condition. sales@countrygunsmith.net Z is 1964. You didn't mention condition, so no way to say the value.
Seems to be a descrepency here. There were no model 36 marlins made with Microgoove barrels. The model 336 was made with a Microgroove barrel, and if that's what you have then your's was made in 1972.

Some Marlin Model 56 did not have a stamped serial number. The Firearms Control Act of 1968 required serial numbers to be stamped on weapons and since the Model 56 began production in 1955 it was not required. While Marlin did stamp some, they discontinued the practice saying it was non productive.
