I purchased mine new in 1965 at Montgomery Wards in Kingston, NY.

The western field model 172B was made for Montgomery Wards(Western Field) by the firm Mossberg and sons.The Mossberg model 395K and your shotgun are one and the same.The Mossberg model 395K was made from 1963-1983.

Your western field shotgun was made by mossberg.This mossberg model 500B is not that old having been made from 1962-1998.At this time If you can find out when Montgomery wards went out of busines(house name for western field) and go back to 1962 you will have some idea of the age of your shotgun.

No published sn data.The western field model M550ar was made by the firm Mossberg and sons for Montgomery Wards(Western Field) The Mossberg model 500AB is the same shotgun.this shotgun was made from 1962-1998.By being a wards Western Field we may be able to say that the time frame will be between 1962-1985 when Montgomery wards went out of business.

your Western field model 60 shotgun was made by savage for Montgomery Wards.The Savage model 620A is the model designation for your shotgun.If you go to savage,s web site you should be able to find the date these shotguns were made.

It all depends what model you have. For instance I have a M550AD it is worth about $600. Age also afeects the value. Your best bet is to take it to a gun shop. Mark The Wards Western Field .410 bolt action shotgun's model # is: 15a. It was bought by my Dad in about 1935-1936. It is a Mossberg model 85 Made for Montgomery Ward. They were manufactured between 1940 and 1947. They are decent guns. solid, reliable, and consistent.
