I have had mine since 1965.
The age of a Springfield model 83 .22 caliber single shot rifle is between 75 and 79 years old. The guns were manufactured by Stevens Arms Company between 1935 and 1939. Depending on the condition of the gun they may be sold for anywhere from $40 up to about $75.
the model 15 was made by savage/springfield during the years 1936-1945.There were 224,000 made during that time span.

The Springfield name was used from 1920 to 1948 but I can't find a listing for a model 87. there are 2 Springfield 87A .22 rifles currently !!/2/05)listed on Auction Arms one is id ed as a Springfield Stevens and the other as a Springfield 87A i own a Wards Western Field model 87 tube fed semi auto .22 that appears to be identical to these two rifles i know it to be at over 50 years old. I also have one and it is dated to 1968
If it's marked Springfield and not Stevens, probably circa WWII or so (though they weren't used by troops in the war, that roughly coincides with when they were sold to sportsmen under the Springfield brand name).
The Stephens Springfield 22 caliber model 840 rifle is values at $250 in fair condition. In good condition, it is valued at $400.
Springfield" was one of the brand names used by Savage Arms Corporation, and they also made guns under the "Stevens" name after they acquired the Stevens company in the 1920s. The Model 87 was sold in several slightly different models under slightly different names until finally discontinued in 1987 hoped that help some This name was used by Stevens/Savage from about 1920 until 1948.
