There are two schrader / port valves to the air conditioning system. One will be a high pressure and the other will be a low pressure. You need a certified mechanic to check and refill the system. You can not simply refill the system.
You need a 50/50 mixture of water and antifreeze.
Behind the air filter box,you may have to remove the box.
You need coolant. This happened when my water pump went bad and I needed to refill the coolant.
I was told by an Air Conditioning Service here in Hobe Sound, Fl that they can until the middle of 2010.
Buy a kit at Wal-Mart or auto parts store, comes with instructions
The coolant capacity for a Dodge Ram 5.9L Magnum V8 is 17.70 liters or 18.70 Quarts which equates 3.89 Gallons. When flushing and refilling the coolant most forums advise that 2 gallons is all that is needed to refill.
In systems that do not have a radiator cap, the coolant is drained by the radiator drain plug. It is filled by adding coolant to the system through the overflow bottle.
Remove the coolant reservoir, flush it out, reinstall it and refill with proper coolant.
