* There are some young people that have been brought up the right way by their parents to respect their elders, but unfortunately some young people don't appreciate the elderly or feel that person is of any use in the fast paced modern world of today, yet there are many young people that go out of their way to listen to the wisdom of the elderly or take a true interest in the stories the elderly people may have to tell about their past and often times it's worth listening too as elderly people were young once too and many accomplished a great deal in their lives and wisdom is the key to success. In fact, in Canada they are asking retired people to think about going back to work in the capacity of their previous jobs to teach the 'green people' how to do their job. It's a great idea and one that will mesh both the young and old ideas to make for an almost perfect solution to any business problem. There are also many young people who visit the elderly in the nursing homes on a volunteer basis. It helps to keep in mind that 'all' of us ... will get old and it's important to be respectful and considerate of those around you that may be old as you 'reap what you sow.' The elderly are generally very wise and have some fantastic stories of life to share with the young if given half a chance.
It's not so much a belief, more than common manners. More or less, because of their age and their wisdom, they deserve our respect, which we will be given when we are older. We're always giving respect to people older than us (because there's always someone older, even the dead) and there's always someone younger.
Respect does not come automatically, it has to be earned. No person is entitled to any more respect than one would give any other human being. Some elders earn it, and some don't. When we factor in the normal rebellion of young people, it is probably safe to say that they have about the same respect as young folks have always had, but may not show it in ways that their elders appreciate due to cultural changes over the past several decades.
It depends on the type of person. If it is a rude careless person then they will probably be disrespectful behind their back.A caring kind person would respectan old person for their wiseness and to not be rude.If there is something wrong with that old person like they are very sick then they are more likely to get respect unless that old person is famous.
It is a belief that everybody should live in harmony with nature and show respect for their elders.
We should respect our elders because it is pleasing to ALLAH . one day insha ALLAH we will be elder than many people around us and we will seek and need their respect
