I'm not sure what you mean by resource person. However, I can say that bringing in outside individuals can bring - at times - a fresh look at issues, new perspectives and ways of thinking, and expertise that may not presently exist from within the institution.

There are those who think very highly of NYLF. Others do not. However, it is not a "scam" in the sense that they take your money and give you nothing. It is obvious that those who get the invites are not "specially chosen" or an "elite," and colleges that the children apply to later are not going to give any large amount of extra consideration to the child simply for them having attended seminars. The seminars cost a great deal of money. They are not necessarily bad seminars; opinions vary. Many think they are not worth the amount charged. Some feel they are worth the amount. There is no extra benefit to it that will get your child into a better college.
