What is the best Relief for a dogs all over red itchy skin?

I suggest you take her to the vet. She may be alergic to something. Sometimes dogs are actually alergic to grass. This can cause them to lick their paws. The saliva causes the fur to turn red in color. If the vet is not your choice, try washing the dogs feet when it comes in doors with a mild soap you can get from the petstore. You may also want to cover up the dogs paws prior to leaving the house. Also are you using a carpet freshener? I have had the pleasure of these causing my dogs to have itchy paws. I learned the carpet freshner could be the culprit, and it sure was.

I would suggest talking to your veterinarian about this, mostly because the cause can be anything from a parasite infestation to severe Allergies. Without identifying the underlying cause (and dealing with any secondary bacterial infection that may be there), your dog is going to continue to have red itchy skin.

Often -- usually -- dogs excessively licking/chewing paws may indicate an allergy ranging from food type to, more probably, something in their environment. You can give 'em a benadryl (one full caplet/capsule per 85 pound dog -- adjust accordingly by weight).

If it helps in 30'-45' they're probably allergic to something in the environment.

Rather than go through the LONG process of figuring out what it is, most VETS simply use a periodic cortisone injection (like once a quarter) which suppresses the problem. This is often seasonal but may persist year round (I've a dog that has a bluegrass allergy and have the same lawn, so it's year round for him).

Pretty easily managed and the DVM can Rx it to you and show you how to administer it inexpensively. If you're uncomfortable with the process, you can just take the dog in and have the VET do it.

It maybe because your dog has walked on something that he is allergic to or picked up something that had chemicals on it.
